Pastor Mike Byrd and his wife Cindy

“Where does God want me?”
That is a question that Pastor Mike has asked multiple times throughout his ministry. Pastor Mike received God's call to ministry while serving in the United States Marine Corps. He began serving as a Youth Sunday School teacher and youth group leader in Arizona's local United Methodist church. He led a group of youth and adult volunteers on a hike through theGrandCanyon, exploring God’s creation when he heard God call to go tell the Good News. He considered attending college but quickly dismissed the idea as the next deployment approached. Time passed, and while out at sea on deployment, standing on the deck, on Easter morning, he felt God's call more clearly to Go Preach the Good News.
God had a plan, and though deployments and relocation were the norm, God placed Mike in Pennsylvania and nudged him to continue his education. The same year he retired from the Marine Corps, he graduated with his bachelor’s degree in Bible from Philadelphia Biblical University. (2007) An opportunity to work with an engineering company in the aviation fieldallowed him to continueto serve in the local church in Men’s ministry andAdult Sunday School. Pastors mentored him in the United Methodist Church, and four years later, he graduated from the Local Licensed Pastor's course in the United Methodist Church and began his Pastoral Ministry as an Associate Pastor at Bethany United Methodist Church in Allentown (2011-2017). God led him to continue his education, and he earned his Master of Divinity degree from Lancaster Theological Seminary (September2020) while serving as Lead Pastor at Chiques United Methodist Church in Mount Joy, PA(2017-2023).
Pastor Mike is the first of four children from Baltimore, Maryland. He married his wife Cindy in 1985, and she has been serving in ministry by his side throughout this journey. They have two sons and four grandchildren. He loves spending time with family, and his hobbies includereading, sports, anything history, and aviation.
Serving with passion and joy, Pastor Mike takes Philippians 2:1-4 to heart and strives to imitate Christ's humility. Consistently demonstrating integrity, honesty, compassion, commitment, andrespect for others, he is dedicated to the spiritual development, growth, and well-being of the congregation he is called to shepherd. Above all, he is a spirit-filled believer in salvation through Jesus Christ, pursuing an ongoing relationship with God.
Pastor Mike is excited about God's call to journey with Wampee United Methodist Church. He extends a hearty welcome to you and your family to join us as we grow in faith together
